Merthyr seal promotion to Div 1. Merthyr RFC now join Ystrad Rhondda in Division one after completing a double over Abercynon in a thrilling match. Ross COOMBEs was prominent throughout but Abercynon nearly spoiled the party at 80 minutes with a a breakaway in this 24-17 encounter.

Penallta win Div 5 in style. Penallta have gained promotion to Div 4 in their first season of WRU status. Well done boys and for a former Maesycwmmer player it hurt to say that !!!

Merthyr RFC in promotion frenzy. The Ironmen had a vital win today against Division 2 leaders Ystrad Rhondda with rivals Abercynon thrashing Creosiciliog . Llantwit Fardre had a win for a change after dropping out of the title race. Wayne BOOTH alias 'Baby Jesus' due to his miraculous play was pivitol in the 41-27 winfor Merthyr. Got to say it was nice to see Mike GRIFFITHS former British Lion with his team who played with great spirit. Special metion to Peter MORGAN and Dai DATE who are attempting the beer drinking and kebab eating world record that they have already held for the last 20 years.

Leeds Tykes Powergen Champions . Massive result for Phil DAVIEs and the boys , well done. Make sure you keep performing like that. The premiership needs teams like you there.

Martin CORRY banned . Martin Corry has been banned for elbowing Saracens and British Lion Richard Hill following Leicesters clash with Saracens. Corry will miss the Heineken Semi final. Lets hope it was a ploy to have a rest and be in perfect condition for the final and forthcoming tour.

Andover RFC prepare for Tour.Andover RFC have prepared for the forthcoming tour with several veterans playing in a recent fixture. Rob Gardner one of the Tour organisers and retired hooker (player that is) enjoyed the game and we all wish him a speedy recovery in the hope he will be able loosen up enough to dress himself after the recent bout of post match stiffness.Special mention to MUFF who had a great game by all accounts.

Bedlinog Ladies dictate tour T shirts to husbands . Bedlinog from South Wales have finally decided on Tour Polo shirt colours after the ladies decided blue looked too much like their old school uniforms. They eventually settled for blue and white. Spokesman Dave Cameron disclosed "We've got to do what they say or they'll nag us for the entire trip"

Wilkinson omitted from squad. Sir Clive has left Wilko out of his initial squad ,with an open door policy should he or others gain clean bills of health and pass fitness tests.
