Both sets of fans couldn't wait for this match ,as both believed their side would win the honours. In truth either side could have on the first half performances. The match itself was close right up until the last 10 minutes when the Lions class and technique began to show , D'Arcy sealing matters with a try at the end. There were good showings for several players with Henson looking strong , D'Arcy showing his class and Dwayne Peel showing that he is in the test running as are all three of the scrum halves. Gethin Jenkins was prominent and looks to have secured a Test place. Dallagio was his normal ferocious self but paid a high price when he slipped and injured his ankle. We all wish him a speedy recovery. The game itself was an electrifying start to the campaign with some good running rugby and eight well taken tries. Twenty minutes in and the Lions had stormed into a convincing seventeen point lead thanks to two tries from Josh Lewsey with Mark Cueto adding a third. After relaxing the home side ripped at the Lions scoring tries through Colin BOURKE . Murray WILLIAMS then scored and converted his own try tto bring the sides level. After the restart the Lions concentrated on territory and with forwrd strength tries followed for Shanklin, Peel and finally replacement D’Arcy to seal match. In all a sad day with the loss of such a vital character but a resounding WELL DONE!!!!
